A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER - Back to our roots!
It's December, and for most people that means returning to our roots. Whether it's family or friends, we all try to spend lots of time with the people who mean the most to us. Sometimes it feels like too much time, but like it or not (and lets admit it, even though it can be stressful, we do like being with our families). No matter why we're all getting together, it's wonderful to return to our roots during this time of year. Winter also bring us to other roots. The fall harvest is over and done with, traditionally the only veggies available are root vegetables. It's the time of root vegetables that many of us have forgotten about, like turnips, parsnips and rutabegas. Next time you're in the produce department of your local supermarket, take a closer look, they're all there waiting for you. Sweet, delicately flavored, high in vitamins and delicious. Add them to stews or boil them in water or broth. So enjoy the holidays, and enjoy your roots, with good company and tasty meals. Enjoy the festivities and I'll see you all next year. Eat well! |
